Our Purpose
A Documentation Organisation. A Research Institution. An Education Movement.
For decades, the conversation about prosperity in Africa has started somewhere else - with frameworks built in other places, for other contexts, measuring what other people decided mattered. Nigeria has largely been positioned as a recipient of those frameworks rather than a contributor to them.
IHC Foundation exists to change that starting point. We document Nigeria's living heritage not because the past is worth mourning, but because it contains something the present urgently needs - knowledge about how communities organised wealth without excluding the poor, governance systems that balanced central authority with local autonomy, craft traditions that encoded generations of technical intelligence.
This is the foundation on which a genuinely Nigerian understanding of prosperity can be built.
